Karen Stuke’s Pastagram series began in 2021 as a “pandemic pastime” and has since evolved into a distinctive body of work. Using authentic Italian pasta – which the artist had at home from her frequent trips to Italy, especially Naples – and whose beautifully designed shapes become the subject of these playful studies through the technique of direct photogram, she creates wonderfully appetizing, elegant black-and-white images and unique objects.
