The shifting of the vanishing point of the tree avenue from the center of the image gives the composition a special tension. This makes this very early, atmospheric winter landscape in exceptional quality a special photograph and that, although you do not even know the creator or creators:in.
At the time the picture was taken, it was not possible to take a quick snapshot. The camera, probably a plate camera, had to be set up under a cloth on the basis of the side-inverted, very dark image on the ground glass. The exposure was often several minutes in low light conditions, as was the case on site in this instance. In addition to the equipment, which was not available to everyone and anyone at the time, technical knowledge and a lot of patience were necessary to implement such a lapidary-looking shot.
