Although it is a precisely photographed real landscape, the large-format image Ohne Titel 1434 conveys a sense of placelessness and timelessness. All orientation features have been erased: Neither a horizon line nor people, things, or the title, which is only a serial number, provide a frame of reference. The where-when-what is not relevant here. Without a white border - borderless - the image is presented cropped on the surface, a detailed, depth-sharp cutout from reality, which is nevertheless far from depicting it. Through this abstraction, the image has become autonomous and thus open to questions about the representational capacity or image information of photographic images.
