Comment
Both portraits come from the estate of Wölfl and have been taken at the time when she was working as assistant for Fleischmann. The style of the mentor is unmistakable: the halo around the head, the pictorialistic blur, the tone of the paper, and the dark image edges are bound to Trude Fleischmann’s imagery.
(Westlicht)
In this portrait, Wölfl is rather committed to expressionist trends by showing the slightly bowed head en face, thus accentuating the eyes that penetrate the spectator.
