Friedlander could not leave his flat for a longer time in 1994 due to a knee injuyry. The world famous “street-outdoor-photographer” became one who was condemned to sedentary work. To cheer him up, his wife frequently placed flowers in the flat. Friedlander began to restrict himself in terms of location but also theme and created one of his most convincing series that deals with flowers and vases.
