"Dusty Corners No.6"

Dusty Corners is an important work from the early phase of the British artist duo Gilbert & George's artistic output. In this work, they used their characteristic method of integrating their own bodies as the main component of the artworks, often in highly stylized, iconographic forms. The series shows the duo in various poses, often surrounded by symbolic elements and surreal compositions reminiscent of religious or political iconography. The work is an excellent example of Gilbert & George's so-called “Living Sculptures” period, in which they viewed their artworks not just as objects but as an ongoing performance. They wanted to make their art as interactive as possible and break down the barriers between artists, art and audience. Dusty Corners reflects the social, political and cultural tensions of the time, particularly in relation to issues such as sexuality, identity and social norms. It is also a reflection on the complexity of urban life and the isolation often found in the metropolitan landscapes they so often addressed in their work. This work is a signed postcard of the much larger original prints.
