Comment

Sculptures that appear for only a second or less, formed and dissolved, then re-emerging and immediately disappearing again. An endless play of flowing, streaming, bubbling, rushing liquid. Light draws trembling patterns on the bottom of the water, adding color and highlighting its structure. No two shapes are ever exactly the same. There are always similarities, but no new shape corresponds to the previous one, and the observer can only see the flow of the water. Only the camera is able to freeze this eternal play for a fraction of a second, capturing one of the many transient formations and thus transforming it into permanence.
The series In the Flow and Second Sculptures are ongoing projects since 2013; the locations are karst springs known as ‘Strumern’ in the Ausseerland region of Styria, various mountain streams in the Lungau and Pinzgau regions of Salzburg, and in the valleys of the Großglockner and Goldberg mountain ranges.
