Comment
In his photographs the genres of street, portrait, still life, fashion and architecture photography merge. He finds his motifs, such as shop windows, passers-by, cars, signs, and again and again umbrellas, in the immediate vicinity of his New York apartment, which he has been living in for nearly 60 years. The blurring of details, the blurring of movement and the reduction of depth of field, the compensation or deliberate withdrawal of necessary light and the alienation through window views and reflections - all this melts into the color language of a half real, half abstracted urban space.
